Leadership

Each Redemption Church congregation is led by a team of local elders and staff (pictured below). The unified body of Redemption (all congregations) is overseen by a Leadership Team.

Josh Watt

Lead Pastor
About Josh

I’m married to my best friend Aubrey. She is a beautiful wife and loving Mom, and she makes coming home sweet. I’m Dad to my four boys: Elijah, Roman, Jude, and Ozzie. As a family we like to eat and when we are not eating we are usually thinking about what we want to eat next.

I became a follower of Jesus at a FCA baseball camp as a high school senior. On July 4, 2000, God gracioulsy showed me that my attempt to find joy in this life apart from Him was silly and utlimately sinful. From that day I began the lifelong process of following Jesus. It is interesting though how God often has to take things away from us in order for us to know Him deeper.

After college, I moved away for graduate school. I moved away from home, family, friends, and everything comfortable. I had nothing left to distract me…. so for the first time I opened the Bible and read it cover to cover. For the first time in my young faith, Jesus was bigger than just my personal savior. He was the center of my story, the center of the Bible, the center of human history, and He was the center and source of all joy. I have never recovered from this truth.

Heather Lingelbach

Administrative Coordinator
About Heather

I’m married to my favorite person ever, Cody. We have 5 kids – Caden, Xavier, Genesis, Ailana, and Micah.  We also have been a foster family for the past 6 years.  We like to call our lives organized chaos, but it works for us.

Jesus has always been a part of my life.  I don’t remember a time I didn’t know that He loved me and died for me. My family moved around a lot with my dad being in the Air Force, so we are a very close family and church was a priority. When I was around 18, I decided that I wanted to own my choices and decisions, not because I was told what I should do. As you can imagine that led me down a path that was pretty destructive. Only by the grace of God did I come out of those years (mostly) unscathed. I moved back to the states and met Cody not long after, he helped me face my choices and strengthen my relationship with the Lord. Since then it’s been a journey becoming who God wants me to be. He’s smoothed out some edges and is continuing to smack me upside the head when needed! It will take a lifetime to learn and share, but I’m excited for the future.

My role at North Mountain is the Administrative Coordinator!

Chandler Kruse

Worship Leader
About Chandler

I am married to Lexi. One of our favorite things to do is cook together. Many times we try to find creative ways to make everyday meals more interesting. I also enjoy playing music, and rocket league in my free time.

I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home, and in Christian school my whole life. I accepted Jesus when I was 8, and was baptized. I always felt close to God and in relationship with him growing up. In 8th grade, my parents separated which sent me into a downward spiral of doubt, anger, and sin. I always knew the truth, I just was disobedient in the face of what I knew to be true.

When I was a senior in high school, I was introduced to Redemption. I was met with so much grace and love, I saw and felt the gospel in a new way. This interaction changed my life and I rededicated my life to Christ and made a decision by God’s grace to leave the life of sin I was living in and follow him.

Lexi Kruse

R/Kids Director
About Lexi

I’m newly married to the happiest man I’ve ever met. Chandler makes everyday fun and reminds me to never take life too seriously. I’m also a full time labor and delivery nurse. I love my job and it’s so fun helping families welcome new life into the world!

I grew up going to church and learning about Jesus but I became a follower of Jesus during a summer camp in 2011. Our very own Josh Watt was preaching a sermon about Jesus being a light that overcomes darkness. I have always struggled with worry and anxiety, but it all becomes unnecessary in the light of Jesus.

I am the Kids Director! I have been serving in kids ministry in various ways for almost 10 years and I have such a big place in my heart for all our kiddos!

Jimmy Curley

Youth Ministry Director
About Jimmy

I am a single man navigating the thrills and challenges of being in my mid-20’s. I am the oldest of three boys and have a close relationship with both of my brothers as well as my Mom and Dad. My Mom is the saint of the family as she has gracefully managed to put up with the high levels of personality, intense competition, and constant joking between us four boys over the last 20 years. I was born and raised in the North Phoenix area, attending Horizon High School before I shipped out to California for college.

I grew up in a Christian home and attended church regularly as a kid. At that point, Jesus was just a character in a story to me. It wasn’t until I entered into the Junior High Ministry at my church that I learned Jesus was a real character in MY story. The moment I can point to of truly accepting Christ is at a Summer Camp in Sedona. We had been up there for a week having fun, meeting new friends, worshipping, and learning more about who God is. Our final night at the camp, our Youth Pastor preached on what Christ did for us on the Cross. It was at that moment a switch flipped and I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

I’m the Youth Ministry Director.

About Cody

I am married to Heather who is an incredible wife, best friend, and mom. She has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I have ever known and a the voice of an angel. We have 5 beautiful kiddos Caden, Xavier, Genesis, Ailana, and Micah. We also have been doing foster care as a family for 6 years and have had the honor of sharing our home with 12 other little ones. Our house is always fun and chaotic!

Before I met Jesus I was raised in a broken home with abuse and alcoholism which lead me down the path of alcohol, drugs, violence, rehabs, and jail. in August of 2005 I hit my knees and prayed to “god” knowing that I couldn’t continue to live the way I had. A few days later I reached out to a friend of mine from work knowing there had to be more than this AA fabricated god. He laughed and invited me to join him at church that Sunday.

On August 7th 2005 my life was radically changed by the Holy Spirit through the the Gospel. Feeling love for the first time in 21 years and the Holy Spirit doing a complete heart transplant during the service, I ran out the door hugging everyone and proclaiming that Jesus is Lord! Since that day my eyes and heart have been fixed on Jesus and the true story of scripture as the Lord brings this world back to Shalom through His people.

Currently I am a Redemption Community Leader, Men’s Ministry Leader, and Foster Care, Kinship, and Adoption Support Group Leader.

Casie Rayes

Women's Ministry
About Casie

I get to do laundry and road trips with my husband, Nate. He is the most patient human I’ve ever met and so fun. We get to raise our two girls, Addy and Quinn, and teach them all the lyrics to old musicals. We sing and dance a lot. Being silly and taking naps are two of our family values.

I can’t remember a time when Jesus wasn’t all around my life. From memorizing Bible verses with my parents to my Old Testament savvy 3rd grade Sunday School teacher, God was always pursuing me. I more formally declared my inability to live perfectly when I was 9, taking in God’s grace by his gift of faith. I’ve had the honor of sitting under some great teachers and disciplers since then and am learning to love and trust God more deeply and more fully.

Social connector, designated optimist, sourdough bread baker, and my favorite – Director of Women’s Ministries!

Anthony Hernandez

Redemption Communities
About Anthony

Ashleigh and I joined forces back in 2010 and our marriage has been a beautiful adventure, full of laughter and love, and a testament to God’s faithfulness. She is my queen and I’m incredibly thankful for her. We have five amazing daughters. Isabelle is the oldest of the pack, then Alexis, Olivia, Eliana, and Selah. I’m basically Zelophehad from the tribe of Manasseh. We also have a Husky named Arya, who I’m allergic to, but gladly bear the itchy pain because we love her so much. We are diehard fans of Disney and combat sports, which if combined into one thing, is essentially the general atmosphere of our home.

I didn’t grow up in a home that served and loved Jesus, but by his sovereign will and the good graces of my parents, I got a guitar for Christmas in 7th grade, learned a few licks, and joined a band right before high school. As an FYI – I asked for a pellet gun and was disappointed with the guitar, but things worked out in the end. Turns out my best buddy at the time, and drummer for our band, was a Christian and invited me to his church. I told him I would only go if nobody expected me to keep coming back. The irony is not lost on me, even to this day. Eventually, I ended up at a YoungLife summer camp (that I didn’t want to go to) where the same guy that was throwing water balloons full of dog food at my head the day before was also preaching the Gospel (it’s a camp thing). When that man spoke, it was like the lights came on in my soul and my life has never been the same since. I was a youth pastor for several years in Maryvale, AZ, then went into behavioral health for some time, before ending up in a corporate gig, but I’ve served in virtually every capacity a person can serve in at a local church, from preaching to cleaning toilets.

Currently, I serve on the hospitality team, lead an RC in my home, and co-lead the Redemption Community ministry. I also love to preach when given the opportunity and share poetry/spoken words.

Audrey Muller

Communications
About Audrey

Hello, I’m Audrey! I’m from Apache Junction, Arizona, and I have two awesome parents (Bart and Laura), a younger brother (Caleb), and an older brother (Sam). I recently graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Digital Design with an Emphasis in Web Design. For the past three summers I have worked at Sky Ranch in Texas as a professional photographer, and I served as a photographer on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2021. Through these experiences and my time serving on the Production team at Redemption, God has shown me my calling to work in media and behind the scenes. Some fun facts about me are that I graduated high school when I was 16 and college when I was 19, I was homeschooled for 8 years with my two brothers (shoutout to my mom), and I am a 9w1 on the Enneagram.

I was raised in a Christian home and I “said the prayer” when I was three. Though I truly believe Jesus saved me at a young age, I did not understand what that meant or the weight of it. When I was about 7 years old, my family moved to the small town of Superior, AZ for my dad to start a church. God used this move to plant a love for serving in the local church in my heart — I loved helping the Sunday school teacher (my mom) and helping the worship leader (also my dad) by running worship slides! After few years we moved back to the valley to support my grandpa, and a couple years after, when I was entering 8th grade, our church in Superior closed down. As we searched for another church, I entered a season of bitterness and feeling disconnected from God and community. I could not focus at all at our new church and I felt like I couldn’t even sing praises to God. Then one day my family decided to attend Redemption Gateway. As soon as I heard Josh Watt teach there that first Sunday, I could understand clearly what he was saying and God opened my heart to desire to get to know Him in a whole new way. I started attending youth group there, and through Josh, my mentors, and the community there, God showed me His love and taught me so much about Him, ultimately changing my life. So on Easter 2017 I got baptized! Since then I have had ups and downs in my faith, but everyday I learn more and more how deeply I need Jesus and how big and beautiful He is.

I am the communication coordinator at Redemption North Mountain, so I run worship slides, make graphics, and run the social media!

I’m married to Alayna who has been my rock in hard times and best friend through it all. Together we have 3 amazing kids: Kenzie, Jamison and Kenadi. As a family we love camping, hiking, exploring, mountain biking and pretty much anything outside.

I became a follower of Jesus when I walked back into church after a long absence. Jesus met me at the door with open arms and brought me to tears. Never was it more obvious of my sins and the life I was living was not life giving but also that he was always with me in it and that his love is overwhelming.

Set Up | Tear Down
About Alayna

I am a mom to three and married to my ride or die, Adam. Our oldest is McKenzie, than there is our only boy, Jamison and the baby, Kenadi. We still call her baby and I am pretty sure she will despise us for that someday. We love to get outside and explore new places as a family whenever we can.

I had always known of Jesus since I was a young girl. Both of my parents were fairly new Christians but I didn’t grow up with a community of believers. My faith started to waiver in middle school and my social life became my idol. It wasn’t until I was in my mid twenties when a close friend at work invited me to his church that I committed my life to Christ. Looking back, Jesus was always with me even during the darkest moments of my life. I sought acceptance and validation everywhere but from the Lord yet he still pursued me. And for that, I am forever thankful and in awe of our beautiful Savior.

I over see the Set Up/Tear Down team!

Andrew Elder

Volunteer Coordinator
About Andrew

I am thrilled to be married to the one and only Genessee Elder and we have the privilege of raising 3 children together, Allie, Owen and Lydia. Going out to eat is probably what we do best as a family but we really just want to be entertained. We watch TV shows together, play video games, watch movies and a love watching sports. Going to a baseball or basketball game together is always fun for the whole family!

I was 31 years old when Jesus chose to reveal the gospel to me. I grew up knowing there was a God of the universe, but was never properly introduced to the God of bible and had no concept of sin or repentance. I did not believe that Jesus was God, and despite knowing the Christmas and Easter stories, I did not know why they should mean anything to me personally. My wife, Genessee, grew up much the same, and did not know who Jesus was either. A wonderfully persistent believer encouraged Genessee for quite some time to go to church with her and despite being turned down again and again she took an opportunity to share the gospel with Genessee on a couch at the Starbucks she worked at one Saturday morning in April of 2012. That day changed both of our lives. Genessee came home “in love with Jesus” and even though I did not understand what that meant at first, her revelation of who Jesus was caused her to be reborn, she was filled with the Holy Spirit and the profound new way she saw the world was contagious. I wanted to know who Jesus was, and feeling the presence of the Spirit in Genessee I was anxious to experience what she had, so I grabbed bible and started reading. It did not take long for the truths of the Bible to become clear to me. It was reading through the new testament (mostly the 4 gospels) and attending church that led me to understand that I was a sinner against God and that he chose to save me despite my sinful nature. In June of 2012 I too fell in love with Jesus after learning what he sacrificed for me and have been trusting Him since.

Current role at North Mountain is volunteer coordinator, RC Leader, I lead the Men’s Bible study on Saturday morning and anything else you need me to do!

About Dan

I am married to the love of my life, Amy Blackwell. I met her in 2013 when we were paired up in a mutual friends wedding. I knew I was going to marry her the first time I saw her. Amy and I have one son, Owen, who is a little energizer bunny. We enjoy just being together and playing all different types of sports.

I met Jesus when I was 20 years old while attending GCU. I was in a rough patch of life, trying to figure out this whole “adult” thing. From that moment I have been continuously surrounding my life to Christ and to the plan He has for me, knowing I am incompetent of leading my own life.

My official role is the Finance Coordinator but I enjoy leading an RC and simply communing with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Jansen Morgan

Audio/Visual
About Jansen

I was raised Catholic, but I walked away from that church about 10 years ago. I became curious about Jesus again on top of a Mountain in October of 2018. During this time in my life I had lost 8 people in my life to deaths within a month time frame and was going through a lot. That night “Just As I Am” by Brantley Gilbert came on while I was hiking and I broke down sobbing on this sunset hike. This was a song I had heard multiple times, but I had never listened. The song describes going to God, but coming as you are. Either with addiction, pain, brokenness, or suffering, take it to God. As I stop crying I was scrolling on social media and I saw a post from one of my best friends in high school where he was talking about Jesus. At that moment I reached out to him asking about God and without hesitation he called me seconds later.

I went to Redemption Arcadia for the first time on May 12, 2019. It wasn’t until June of 2019 that I fully understood who Jesus was at Redemption and decided to become a follower of Christ. I had met someone the first time I was at Redemption Arcadia who a month later had started an RC group with her husband and she had reached out to me asking if I would like to join her RC. I ended up joining her group and learned a lot and grew in my faith a lot with these amazing people who became family to me.

When the opportunity of North Mountain came along I decided I really wanted to build my community and I felt like God was tugging at my heart to join the launch team during one of the roughest years of my life. The rest is currently still happening, but I am thankful every day to be a part of Redemption North Mountain.

At Redemption North Mountain I am the head of Production so I am in charge of Audio and Visual.

Redemption North Mountain is a beautiful place to come as you are. Whatever you’re going through this is a beautiful place to come and truly just be who you are broken, tired, or happy, and joyous. There is a place for you here.

Joe Boison

Prayer Ministry
About Joe

I became a follower of Jesus in my last year of high school.  Prior to that, my mother had started taking us to church regularly and over time, the message of the gospel became clearer to me.  Then in the course of time, during a sermon at a church gathering, I committed my life to Jesus and started the lifelong faith journey.  I realized that I couldn’t by my own efforts, attain to God’s standards and needed the free gift of salvation that Christ offers.  I came to realize that no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11).

The Lord had used the solemn imagery of seeing the graveyard of missionaries who had died on the mission field, to impress upon me, the seriousness of the gospel message and how in a more profound way, Jesus had also left His heavenly abode to come to earth to die and resurrect for the purpose of our salvation.

I’m part of the prayer ministry at Redemption North Mountain and love praying with and for others.  I also help with our set-up/tear-down operations.

I am a transplant to Arizona from the Midwest and love discovering new places and things to do in this beloved state.

In honor and memory of my late mother’s role in my coming to faith, I have John 4:42 as my life verse: “They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the World.”

On Being a Local Congregation of Redemption Church

REDEMPTION'S MULTI-CONGREGATIONAL STRUCTURE

Redemption church is multi-congregational in structure. This means that a central governing body provides structure, direction, and support for the ministry of each local congregation. Local congregations, like Redemption North Mountain, are united and collaborative, but each has its own leadership and is free to contextualize its efforts. Click on the link below to learn more about the overall structure of Redemption.

LEARN MORE
REDEMPTION'S BELIEFS AND PRACTICES

We are a non-denominational church with a Reformed view of salvation. We believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We have been saved by grace through faith, which is itself a gift. That gift empowers us to be a transformed people who embody His redemptive power and participate in the renewal of all things.

LEARN MORE
REDEMPTION'S OUTWARD FOCUS

We are a sent people. As the church we are not called to turn inward and build our own kingdom. We are called to turn outward and give ourselves to the spread of the Gospel, the establishment of healthy local churches, and the multiplication of disciples. This is a call to invest beyond our church, beyond our tribe, and beyond our generation.

LEARN MORE
The Five Loves

Our goal is not merely to connect people, but to make disciples who are growing in what we call The Five Loves. This philosophy shapes every environment at North Mountain.

Community and Global Initiatives

We strongly believe that all members of the body of Christ are sent people, called to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel to the world. Therefore our community and global efforts should never be limited to structured programs. However, in response to the needs in our community, and God's heart for the nations, we do build global partnerships and facilitate opportunities to participate in God's mission of blessing the nations in Christ.
