3rd Service Vision + FAQ

Redemption North Mountain will launch a 3rd service in Fall 2025. This is to provide vision (why) and clarity (how) to this significant new work.

Why did we start a church here?

“Have you thought about North Phoenix?”

This was the question posed to me by two people separate from each other as my wife and I prayed about starting a new church in the Valley.

“Where?”

Both Phoenix leaders gave me the same vision of the location of a potential new church. If you made a square between the 17 and the 51 from Northern up to Bell... that is the area. This area with Moon Valley and Sunnyslope at the center needs more churches. There are not enough churches there to reach the people of ‘North Phoenix.’

That’s the short answer to the birth of our church. God called us to this location to be a simple, local church in an area where more people can experience our prayer in their own lives, “In Phoenix as it is in heaven.”

Why add a 3rd service now?

From the beginning, God has blessed our church. Though we are still young, we are becoming a staple in this community. He has given us a location right in the heart of this part of the city. And He has blessed us with a growing church.

Our church has had a steady climb in both people and giving from the beginning. We have grown since the day we started. However, we have reached a point due to space restraints that growth is not an option going forward. In general church auditoriums begin to feel too full to be welcoming to guests around 75% capacity. For example, if you have 200 seats, then when you have 150 people in the room, it feels too ‘full’ for someone (especially guests) to stay.

CHURCH SEATING CAPACITY
• 0-25% = uncomfortably empty
• 25-50% = comfortably empty
• 50-75% = comfortably full.
• 75-100% = uncomfortably full

Our two services both have been in the ‘uncomfortably full’ stage since the beginning of the year. Special services, like Easter, or child dedication put us near 100% capacity at times.

Therefore, the next step for our church is to provide more space so more people can know and follow Jesus in this local church. The best option for us, for now, is to add another Sunday service. The goal is to add a 3rd service on September 7, 2025.

What are the new service times?

The three service times will be 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00am.

The options for more services were Saturday night, Sunday night or Sunday morning. We as leaders did not want to burden our church leaders with having to create a church service on Saturday night. And with our big population of young families, Sunday night did not seem optimal. Adding a third service in the morning we thought would be the best option for us as we strive to be simple, local, and healthy. We talked with other churches that have added a third morning service and based on what we heard making 8:00am our earliest service time seemed best.

How will the services be different?

The worship services will be the same flow. Same music. Same teaching. Same flow. Same communion. Services will be about 5 minute shorter than previously. We will account for this in our planning of announcements and music. As far as kids’ ministry, the goal is to offer our normal kids ministry experience.

One change will be the addition of a junior high ministry (6th-8th grade) during the 11:00am service. We have been praying about creating two distinct youth environments for junior high and high school. The goal is to have JH (6th-8th grade) meet Sunday during 11am and HS (9th – 12th grade) will meet midweek. Anthony will be sending out details soon.

What extra work will this add to our church leaders/volunteers?

Everyone will have to carry a bit more weight. Everyone from the pastor teaching to the guest services team will be asked to help make this happen. The extra work required for this will fall on a few people (and teams) more intensely. Preaching, worship, and production will have the weight of an extra service and longer Sunday. Similarly, kids’ ministry and guest services will have the added weight of another service. Kids and Guest Services have the extra responsibility of recruiting and training new leaders/volunteers to staff our new worship times whereas production and band will be done by the same people who will work an extra bit on Sundays.

How can I commit to helping?

We are asking our church members to commit to the following:

1 | SACRIFICE.

This church started 5 years ago when a few families sacrificed their comfort and got up and moved. I want you to prayerfully consider how your family will MOVE for this new season for our church.

2 | SIT.

Choose a new service time to commit to. The 9:30am service time will likely be the fullest right out of the gate – so consider making 8:00 or 11:00 your new service time you attend. Sit and enjoy the Sunday gathering!

3 | SERVE.

Pick a team to join or to serve with. Guest Services, Production, or Kids Ministry. Sign up HERE.
