James: Faith on Display
Series Overview: James | Faith on Display
What is this series?
Starting January 12, we open up the book of James. James is written by the half-brother of Jesus, which makes his perspective all the more interesting. He grew up with Jesus (the big brother) and then decided to follow Jesus (the Messiah). James has been called the New Testament book of Proverbs. It is a practical, on-the-ground look at faith in action. One of my favorite pastors calls James the book of “Blue Jeans Faith.” It is short. It is practical. The book of James wants us to have faith on display in everyday life.

Why this series now?
As we kick off 2025 as a church, we all plan and dream about what a new year holds for us. Some of us will make resolutions. Some of us might even keep some of those resolutions. James has a simple resolution for us to orient our lives around - “be doers of the word and just hearers.” James wants our faith to be lived out on display. As a church community, we want to orient our lives around this simple, practical, and God-honoring prayer to be “doers of the word and not just hearers.”
